Romsey Boxing Day gathering. Pictures pictures pictures.

This started a few years ago but has become increasingly popular. So much so that the main car parks are restricted to pre 76 now but if you get there early enough you can park your newer stuff in the market square. I got there just after 8.30 and got the last space. The whole place is heaving by 9am.

So here's a few from the Market Square for starters. I was gonna keep these more to the Autoshite end of the spectrum but I got a bit carried away.

I managed to park next to a J reg Cav. Same age with very different design philosophy. One is all straight lines and one has no straight lines at all.

The Jag belongs to a friend and whilst a bit new can't be far off Shite territory.

The Fiesta is apparently a Bravo II for all you Ford special edition lickers out there.post-20743-0-17638900-1514298963_thumb.jpgpost-20743-0-35805500-1514299259_thumb.jpgpost-20743-0-62030400-1514299370_thumb.jpg

More to follow.

Lots of Ford's which are now well out of Autoshite territory but I still remember when they weren't and it doesn't seem that long ago.

I imagine all A35s are steamed up all the time.

And this last one I took to try and capture the oil slicks all over the car parks. Hasn't come out that well.

I don't really do American stuff but I know plenty of you here do so these are for you. Again I've stuck to original looking cars. No hot rod or custom jobs.

Except this. Is it supposed to look like this? What is it?

Woah! A RHD Fiat 126 on a W plate!

I wonder if that was a Polish one imported and converted to RHD. Even the wipers are RHD!

Funnily enough it had a couple of Polish stickers on the back which made me look twice at the steering wheel. I just assumed they'd found some Polish stickers. I've seen two other Polish ones round here lately. Never even occurred to me to look at the reg.

Its an early 50s (ish) GMC cab-over-engine truck. It's sort of supposed to look like that, but it should be a proper lorry with proper lorry wheels and not on a shorty pick-up truck body.

I once parked in the same spot as that black XR3i and got chased out of town by three blokes with scaffolding bars as they wanted to park there. Not a big fan of Romsey, me.

Saying that, Natraj (behind the Volvo Amazon) does a decent curry.

I can agree about Natraj. You normally wouldn't even consider parking there anyway they seem to have more and more little markets there.

Romsey is well worth a visit just for Reeve the Bakers. It is if you only live ten minutes away anyway.

These two deserve their own thread as I don't think I've ever seen either before.

This is apparently an Abarth 750. I don't know if it's based on the 500 platform but it wa rear engined and very very small.

And my other favourite was something very different. An Austin A70 Ute, I assume imported from Oz. I based this assumption on the kangaroo stuck to the bonnet.

The 'patina' looked a little forced but I still would.

My friend spent several minutes crawling over this and declared it flawless and worth about half a million in which case fair play to them for bringing it out on a damp boxing day.

Had planned to be here but after Xmas Day was nuked by me having a flu-bomb I still felt shit this morning and wasn't up for it.

Cheers for the post, at least I got to see some of it!

And lastly, and this is where the Shite really begins, after doing all the classic car parks I went for a walk round the other car parks. Romsey has a nice compact town centre so this doesn't take long. And I wasn't disappointed.

One car park produced two mk1 Mondeos a Volvo 740/V70? and a smiley Transit.

Base XJ40 I think, it has plastic trims

I bet you can't buy a new jag with steel wheels.

Yes! A Peugeot 607. I guess the AM Rapide is a bit rare too but it's not Shite.

And just as I was leaving I clocked this.

And all this in about an hour and a half.
