Hevingham Woods: "The Abandoned Ones"

I was a student in Norwich in the 1970's and visited Medlars.

Its a long time ago but it was a very odd place. The long lane down to the yard had 30's-50's cars rusted out on both sides with trees growing through them. There were a lot of interesting cars, Jaguar Mk7 was one I recall.

At the end of the lane you got to the fields and woods with cars - scattered everywhere. There was stuff from the 30's to the 60's. Even in those days a lot of it was past saving. They must have picked up every MoT failure for miles around.

But in those days a 50's Jag with rust and a smokey engine was worthless really as no one wanted them. Pity I never took any pictures - I never remember them too keen to sell anything - most stuff mouldered into the ground.

The railway carriage in the pictures? Where is that.. is that still there? That might be worth saving for a preserved railway.
