Decided I don't like depreciation so going back to something I like (a lot) further down the market , see the thousand pound RR thread

Car has been with Mercedes for 3 weeks sorting a gearbox problem out , picked it up yesterday

Leaving Warrington to re live the 80s watching Alison moyet in Manchester and I get rammed in a queue by a XF , luckily the guy was straight as a die admitted it 100% , his insurance have been in contact already

Car doesn't look badly damaged , bumper skin cracked and pushed out at the sides but I'm guessing something is bent underneath as the jag is quite low , I've been ran into a couple of times over the years but this one actually hurt , maybe because the B class has a hold function where it locks the brakes when you give the pedal a shove so it didn't move when he hit it

I literally have the eBay ad written out waiting for dry weather to clean it and take the pictures but it'll be weeks now

The most annoying thing , I've had dashcams in my cars for years, took it out when it went in the be fixed and hadn't put it back in

He ran into the back of you. Case closed.

Sadly, it is just a case of waiting. Least no-one was hurt.

That is a pisser but it could have been a lot worse. He's insured and admitted liability so that should remove most of the stress. Imagine if he hadn't been insured?

You'll get a rental, and your car fixed as good as new. If you have any minor dinks anywhere, get the body shop to sort them too so the car is absolutely A1 when you come to sell.

Many years ago I put an ad in the paper to sell my 350lc.

The day before the paper came out I decided to go and jetwash the bike, so threw my gear on, started her up and set off...

It was a cold day and the LC was ridiculously tuned along with spannies and aftermarket filters.

I really should have warmed her up first, because as I came up to a junction with full revs and dropped the throttle off, nothing happened! The revs stayed full.

Instead of pulling the clutch in and holding it in, I went for the front brake, which locked.

I came off the front brake and tried again, but by this time I had run out of room and the front locked again.

The bike scraped along the kerb and ripped off my custom made rearset and gear lever, as well as scraping the bodywork and headlight, bending the handlebars and other damage.

I pushed the bike back home and started it up to figure out what was wrong with the throttle, but it was fine and worked as it should.

So I guess because it had aftermarket filters the carb slides must have temporarily iced up, sticking them open.

The worst bit was next day when the phone rang off the hook because of the advert I had placed.

Sorry, a bit of a diversion from your thread, but your story stirred up that memory.

Phone keeps ringing so it looks like the insurance have sold the details on to the ambulance chasers
