car ramp accident on youtube , I'm not going to link it because I doubt they survived ,if you get the public involved in working under their cars on your premises you have to make sure they're safe , if something like that happens and the HSE find anything they're not happy with somebody is going to prison.

I did think about all of the user agreement docs and disclaimers, it would be like signing up for a track day ‘death or serious injury may occur’

What sort of weight van were you thinking? The MOT place has just had a new one installed for changing the extra LWB sprinter/ crafter gearboxes. It was surprisingly well priced.

That said their normal MOT ramp lifts my Lwb transit without going into slow mode. Just watch how much headroom you have above at max lift.

Coincidentally, my usual mot man couldn't take my transit today as it was too long for his ramp. Just a T280 mwb but seems to have a longer wheel base than he was expecting.

A mate of mine has used ramp-it-up in Arbroath a couple of times and rates the place hightly, he did say that the owner was struggling to make a profit though - shame, I met him at a trackday once and he is a decent chap. Possibly Arbroath would not have been my first choice to set up in, somewhere nearer Edinburgh / Glasgow might have been a better bet ?

No harm in maybe sending him an email with a few polite questions - I'm not sure where the op is located but it's a safe bet he's not in flipping Arbroath :)

We have a ramp in Fife which for the majority of time doesn't have anything sitting on it.

I'd love to be able to help people out in exchange for beer tokens but there doesn't seem much demand for it.

if you have all the trimings of a garage then might as well go a few steps further and employ a mechanic and just be a garage no? seems the only missing part if you supply the ramp and tools with insurance

i paid 250 to have a clutch supplied and fitted in our focus...parts are 100-150 , so that leaves me me a max of 150 fitting cost , if i had to pay 100 a day to rent the ramp im not really saving anything and still have the worry of lousing it up or getting the wrong parts

id also worry if i take a nice mint car there will you have the ramp next to me showering the car with sparks or underseal

You may (or may not) remember that I mentioned "man cave club" as a business idea on a couple of occasions.

A mate of mine rents an industrial unit with 3 business partners as they have a start up business, which buys CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutting machines, and laser measurement machines from China, and CAD software, which allows for easy generation of cutter paths. Because they are a new small business they pay no rates.  On the same complex they noticed another unit was available, and he took on a rolling lease and has been putting his collection of cars in there and friends of friends have asked whether they can store a couple of cars too.  I guess that he could probably end up with 10 cars in storage of which 5 or so will be paying £80 a month each, which will almost cover the cost of the unit  The cost of the unit is tax deductible as it's part of one of his ltd companies, and he will declare whatever he receives in revenue from offering storage, but after insurance it will create a slight loss. I think he was looking at £550 a month for the unit, but can't remember exactly.

He is now looking at getting a 4 poster ramp in there, which may be used by selected friends at a nominal cost - say £50 for the full weekend.
