I've had a quick look in the 1997 Vectra brochure and the tourer was released by then so an R reg sounds about right.

Just remembered- Astra California.. Mk3. Nautilus was a really nice colour, The Mk3 sold well in this and Caribic blue. Hated Rembrandt silver- which was gold, and had about 15 shades. These were a real bugger to match in a repair.

What was the dark blue colour on mk3 Astras called? I think the Cesaro and GSi came in it, but a made had an L reg California in that shade which just sprang to mind when you mentioned that model. I was thinking Polar Sea blue but that was later and only used on the mk4 Astra and later Vectras etc.

Cant remember rembrandt silver, just remember star silver, and champagne gold

Rio Verde was another nice colour on the mk3. Wish theyd offered Arden blue though like the Corsa, that wouldve looked brilliant.

No doubt there was some official layout for badging that the factory used, and then as cars were repaired after accidents people got a bit fruity with where the i went, and what was on the back and sides etc. At some point in the 90s Vauxhall stopped putting the trim level on the boot and had it on the doors or wings only, so the boot would be model - engine with no reference to GLS or whatever.

Also, once catalysts were mandatory and fuel injection was standard across the board, the i became less important.

What's the story with Vauxhall adding TURBO badges to their cars? It's not very impressive in 2017. I saw a Vivaro with TURBO badges the other day. Ohhh a turbo diesel, SO FANCY!!!

I'm not sure on the reason, but I quite enjoy it. It reminds me of my Mothers old MG Montego which was white with 'TURBO' writ large down the sides in red.

New Insignias can have Turbo D badges. I find it better than them being badged CDTI or whatever.
