95 quid Peugeot Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I picked up a Fabia for my youngest son from the auctions a few weeks ago. I bunged a V62 in with appropriate fee. However it's not been returned yet. I've got the car insured and it's got 12 months MOT. Is there any loopholes I can use to tax it so he can use it
PiperCub Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 A mate got his V5 in a bit over a week some time back, a couple of weeks sounds a bit excessive but I'd bet there's a clause which says something like 'May take up to x weeks to arrive'.Worth rattling Doovla's cage though, they've been more helpful in recent times!
95 quid Peugeot Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 I think if you put a V62 in there's the nausea of them containing last owner
alfetta Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 much quicker if you apply over the phone - 5 days. takes upto 6 weeks by post.
95 quid Peugeot Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 Ah. But if you haven't. Any options/loophole
Kiltox Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 You should've taxed it at the post office using the V62 before they sent it off - think you're out of luck now
Dave_Q Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 You could still do V62 & tax together at a post office but obvs you'd have to pay £25 again. I imagine if you then wrote to them explain that you had to do that because they took too long they may or may not refund you your 1st £25. Alternatively ring the Doovla, if it's in your name on the computer you might be able to tax over the phone?
95 quid Peugeot Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Virtually as ⬆️ Rang DVLA with my best polite voice. Explained the situation. Very nice man did a bit of digging around. V62 not processed, however he marked the car down as "in the trade" then said nip down post office fill in a new V62 , pay the 25 squid, then ring back up and cancel original application and cheque. Faultless. Sadly better not find out about feedback incase it gets him in shite
