Does it mean it can do stuff like this http://www.jamessimpson.co.uk/elmconfig-enable-ford-ecu-functions/

i.e. able to turn functions on and off. As it would make more sense to spend a bit more and get the delphi one rather than a brand specific one.

It can on certain makes, but Ford isn't one as far as I've delved. Need to activate towbar stuff on a Kuga and Mondeo but computer says no. Works with VAG and others though.

The tool for recent Fords seems to be Forscan.   Free for Windows or WINE (i.e. Linux) or there's a paid for Android app.  I haven't tried installing it yet but I certainly will, and would be interested to hear how other people get on with it.

Ordered one off eBay a while back.

Never arrived, it was seized at the border and impounded, according to the letter I got from Customs; no offer to pay unpaid duty on it (not that there should have been any to pay). Miffed about that because that's a no-refund situation.

I have just been out to the car and tested the XTRONS dongle I linked above with an app called 'ELM327 Identifier'.  The app fires loads of AT commands at the dongle to find out which it understands, and based on the results tells you which firmware version it supports.   Some of the rubbishy dongles apparently don't support all the commands they should, but mine turned out to be a good one, fully compatible with ELM v1.5.

Forscan is picky about which ELM dongles it works with, so I downloaded the 'FORScan Demo' app to see if it would work with mine.   The results were very impressive - it found numerous ECUs in my mkiii Mondeo: the OBDII module, Powertrain Control Module, Restraint Control Module, Instrument Cluster, ABS ECU, and Generic Electronic Module.  Even better, it found fault codes in a couple of them that I'd not seen when using Torque.  On the strength of that I'll be definitely buying the full app, which costs a mere £3.50, then I'll be able to read codes from Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.  What a good excuse to buy a Lincoln!

I've just ordered one of these to go with a new heap I'm collecting tomorrow.

Can any of the current users tell me the following?

Can the DS150 be used to code keys?

Can it do DPF regen and/or removal?

It's a frog 2.2HDI if that makes any difference.

Keys - depends on the car and if it's supported. Generally not though. However I'd be wary of using a clone device to do such thing. If it goes wrong, the car is dead.

DPF - again depends on the car, but generally a regen is possible on most. Removal no, that requires a remap. Plus that's being progressively clamped down on harder by the DVSA.

Thanks.

I do have a Lexia but I've never managed to get the thing working properly, hopefully I'll have more success with the DS150.

Know what you mean about nuns and kittens, turns out you can actually get pattern DPFs for about £100 so hardly worth de-FAPing. (If they're any good)

Probably not, like cheap cats but a type of thing to get old cars going again. I'm surprised there isn't more second hand DPFs on the bay.

Another Ds150 question.

Mine is still on its way, from a lying shitehawk eBay seller who takes about 2 weeks to ship the 23 miles from his stated location of Manchester to Huddersfield.

Anyway, up there someone suggested using the Wurth software rather than Delphi, has anyone got a link or something so I can get started on downloading it while I'm waiting for mine to turn up?
