dollywobbler Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 It turns out that there are companies out there that will sell you conversion kits. They aren't cheap but not tends of thousands. Here's a 2CV one that starts at £4,000http://www.everything-ev.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_118&products_id=384 The same sight has kits for the Peugeot 107 / Citroen C1 / Toyota Ago, Classic Beetle and , of all things, the Daihatsu Hijet (and ride on mowers!) http://www.everything-ev.com/That site has been showing those prices for years. I can't believe it's still be that expensive. I reckon you could build a li-ion 2CV for under six grand. Which I had six grand to try and prove it! Lead acid, the four grand kit, just isn't worth bothering with. Asimo 1
Slartibartfast Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 The thing EV-west never mention about their conversions is the thing that's always been the biggest drawback of any electric car: range.
dollywobbler Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 The electric Beetle had a genuine range of 100 miles. They've built another with Tesla batteries now, which should go double that. My 2CV only does 200 miles on a charge, and I can't refuel it at home.
