Need help finding vin no.

I acquired a Honda Dylan scooter a while back and need to apply for a new v5 for it. The vin plate is on the chassis behind a plastic panel and the bolts holding it on have been rounded off.

Anyone know how I can get the number without breaking this panel off?

You could try the BMW warranty site. It's returned a VIN for every car reg I've tried, right back to the 70s, but I haven't tried it on bikes. I'll post a link when I get home if somebody doesn't beat me to it.

Awesome thanks a lot, I just googled it and it worked. That's saved me having to break the panel off. Cheers muchly.

This place etc.

Surely the answer to every 'where can I find my VIN...' question is "on ebay for a reasonable price, sir"

Well done tracking it down!

Don't know if it's changed recently but when I've taken bikes in that the frame has been plastic coated on and the frame number hasn't been visible, or my Ossa that only had the frame number on a sticker when it was new, they've just put "Not Found".

I guess if you take the logbook when you go for the test it's on there and that will make the computer happy, they aren't allowed to start dismantling stuff to find it (and they won't want to risk breaking something either) so if it's covered I'm not sure what other option there would be.

You could always stamp it into a bit if alloy and rivet it to the frame somewhere that is easily visible.

Edit only required if first used after 1st August 1999, so not a RFR but will probably be an advisory.

My Spacy's VIN has long since disappeared / rusted away - I just take in an old MOT certificate every year and they take the VIN from that.
