I like the 'airflow model so better suspension' USP. Sounds like a clever way of marketing it as I'd have thoughtbthe pre-airflow are a lot rarer.

And guess what, it's me.  The nearest to a 1300L was the 1200 De Luxe.  1300 only came in with the Mk2 in 1966.

The airflow model had leaf springs on the back, much the same as regular Cortinas.  The pre-airflow had an A-frame and IIRC turreted shocks.  I don't have the experience to compare them, but allegedly the change was made because the original design wasn't as durable as Ford would have liked.  Ford being Ford it was probably simple penny-pinching though.

I've seen these go for 6 figure sums in more than one country now, it's getting fucking daft. The bubble has to burst sometime

The bubble would burst around 30 seconds after I bought one....

Not that I would or could though...

It just always seems to happen 30 seconds after I buy anything!

The rust blister one on the rear arch of these six figure cars, hopefully! It's fucking insanity.

I wish you would start buying houses so my kids could afford to move out of mine.

Hi, IIRC the pre-airflow rear axle and leaf springs were supplemented with the 'A' frame for better location, only it was attached to the diff casing (I believe they were Aluminium but can't swear to it) and with energetic driving they used to break the casing. So were replaced with standard diffs and the 'A' frame was taken off.

Sorry to upset any enthusiasts but I have, in my time owned an Anglia 105E, Mk1 Cortina 1500, Mk2 Cortina 1600E and by God they were all decidedly average borderline poor, as someone who owned said vehicles when they were worth buttons all I can say is THEY WEREN'T THAT GOOD WHEN THEY WERE NEW AND THEY HAVENT IMPROVED WITH AGE

Sorry for the cap lock rant, none of mine were even remotely new when I got my grubby paws on them but all the same, they were just ordinary workaday wheels and nothing more.

PS DID I MENTION TURNING DOWN A MK2 ESCORT RS2000 CUSTOM  IN CI5 WHITE  FOR £800 IN IMMACULATE NICK ONLY 23 YEARS AGO AS I DIDN'T REALLY LIKE IT??

Bitter and twisted? No Not me...........................................
