This whole scenario is very similar to what happened to Macdroitwich.  

 

We had a previously very good IT body who was lured/blackmailed away to work on a breakaway forum.  A sham of a moderated forum for shame. 

 

All was well until suddenly (and when it was obvious the breakaway forum was the predicted dismal failure), a 'sleeper admin account' believed to have been created at the time of the split was deployed to destroy the original MacDroitwich forum.

 

It was a bitter move, which failed as they all do.  But it did serve to warn about the nature of what a bit of IT skill and a modicum of power can do to individuals.

That was the last time.  And he never forgot, he was just jailed.
