neil1971 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Watching Springwatch on BBC2 tonight and about 45 mins in there's a piece on an old school breakers with lots of wildlife, obviously it concentrated on the wildlife more than the array of decaying old cars and parts but looked like an interesting place, anyone else catch this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08sxpkm/springwatch-2017-episode-2 - skip to 47 minutes in
EssDeeWon Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 I saw that on BBC2 tonight, I missed where they said it was though. The old owner was wearing an 'Essex Balloons' cap. I sincerely hope it stays like that for years to come. The Blue tits nesting in that old car rad was just brilliant. I would love to visit this old yard.
oldcars Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 The the scrap place i go to its just some tits wrestling with an old car rad. alcyonecorporation, RobT and tooSavvy 3
PiperCub Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Pity the presenter didn't say something like: "Yes, the wildlife is very interesting but anyway, moving on to more important matters, just look at the wide diversity of chod around here......" michael t 1
Louise2cv Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I've only got as far as the thermal camera demo... Reader, I smashed the telly up. They do actually think we are utter imbeciles don't they? martc and alcyonecorporation 2
PiperCub Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Having worked in TV & allied industries for over 20 years, I will answer that question. Yes, they do. (& doesn't it show to me, you and anyone with anything passing as a brain/mind of their own). Mainly due to the fact most of those running it are themselves utter imbeciles. (No, I'm not trying to be funny or ironic here either sadly - it happens to be true). Squire_Dawson 1
De Selby Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I saw that. A definite Mr. Trebus air to the whole thing, though he may have had a cleaner bit of yard round the corner. There was a chunk of Fiesta Popular Plus featured at one point. Springwatch's producers make the usual mistake of thinking we need some sort of human interest element tagged onto everything to hold our attention (they're always talking about "our dung beetle", "our hedgehog" etc) and of thinking that we particularly care about the presenters' foibles, tedious in-jokes etc.
AlabamaShrimp Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Thanks for this, I skipped straight to it. Looks like has got tons of crap but some stuff still OK. Was that a pile of mk3 Cortina grills?
HillmanImp Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 There used to be an old abandoned scrappy just south of Beverley that had a really aggressive peacock in it. It never liked me mooching around the place. Louise2cv 1
andy18s Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Just making sure you weren't pinching bulbs and fuses.... mk2_craig and Squire_Dawson 2
