Is yours Honda a 2.2 CTDi? If so you need C2 or C3 grade in 0W-30 flavour - recommended for long life of the chain and for maximum economy.

 

 

 

I've always bought oil and filters from Cox motor parts. Expensive because 6 litres but then over a year it's not too bad. I also buy an extra litre as mine seems to get through it in around 6k miles. Handily half way between services.

Thought 5w30 would be fine but I'm happy to be corrected.

Quantum oil from TPs is castrol or Fuchs and cheap

Tesco were doing synthetic 10/40 Castol GTX for £6 for 2l yesterday, was tempted to get some for my folks 1.8 V50 but I couldnt remember what grade it took.

10/40 will be semi syn I would imagine

20k is hardly a long term test mind - would prob still be running fine if it didn't have a service in that time . In fact the 2.2 would have changed its own oil twice by then anyway 😄

Checking service record it's pretty much exactly 50k and since December 2013 it's been serviced 6 times, 3 at national and 3 DIY.

 

I've heard a lot of people say that the 2.2 uses a lot of oil but I've only had to top it up once between services and this was last year.
