Junkman Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 The 'a' in Lancia must be pronounced much more openly than the 'a' is usually pronounced in England. There isn't really an example in English how it must be pronounced, since it isn't pronounced like this in English at all.Does anyone here know how 'gelati' is pronounced in Italian?Or 'Mario'?But that's how the 'a' in Lancia is pronounced.Kind of 'ah', but not really.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 alpha romero bruv God those Beta saloons are bland. The early Coupes are by faaaar the prettiest thing they made after my favourite - the Flavia Coupe. How they went from this to junk like the Prisma is a tragedy. Well done Fiat. eddyramrod and Junkman 2

Guest Breadvan72 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 All this Italian van filth is getting me right agitated. Al Bundy has now seen the Beta and his initial impression is that it's OK. It will be a few weeks before he gets to investigate further and find out whether there's any metal under all that fancy paint, but here's hoping. The seller seemed a pleasant bloke. He does a bit of car trading, and a bit of car transporting. He has an Escort Mexico replica as his main toy.

But I will love Betas to my dying day.... The Reverend Bluejeans 1
Junkman Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Looks like it will have to be that RWD Alfa-ised Ducato instead, then retrospectively fit a twink from a donor 75One could also engine rape a crusty GTV V6, no? Or how about a twin cam SUV? http://www.subito.it/auto/alfa-romeo-altro-modello-anni-50-catania-197307337.htm Actually this one has my golden buzzer. Junkman Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Eddy, worry not. It takes more than merely being pro American to become socially acceptable. What I tried to say is being pro American is now no longer a reason for being not socially acceptable. eddyramrod 1

HillmanImp Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 A 2000 Berlina. Great dashboard, but dull exterior, I think. I did not know that 2000 saloons came with steelies. The ad says top of the range, but would that not have meant alloys? Or were alloys only standard on the Coupes, HPEs and Spyders? The saloon version of the Beta is odd in that it looks nothing like its sportier siblings. Having said that, a Montecarlo is, strictly speaking, a Beta, but looks completely unlike one and is RWD. The price strikes me as ambitious - http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C863463 Here is another photo of it: If anyone does go an see it, you can maybe get some money off if you suggest it looks like a large drunk Norn-Irishman in a John Deere outfit and a stupid hat has been laid on the bonnet.

Guest Breadvan72 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Cautious optimism remains - the Lancia still hasn't shown itself to be an utter heap. My fingers remain crossed. A plan is coming together: my Dolomite Sprint needs some welding, as its customised exhaust is banging on the rear suspension. I may drive the Triumph up to Leicester and return in the Lancia. brandersnatch 1
