Event Autotesting - Feb 9th Errol, Scotland

Next event that is on, but I cant make is a Treasure Tour on 14th July. 

Sadly I am away for this, but if any local or visiting shiters are around I would highly recommend it.

Got my two Smoll cars ready for autotesting on Sunday. 

We have got 5 drivers entered this time, with only two driving licences between us!

Is this on at the airfield? Is it all right to come down and spectate for a while? Will be a day out and might inspire my boys to get involved.

Yep at the airfield. I am not sure about spectating but I am sure it shouldn't be an issue.  It's the first year for my mates daughter, she only turned 14 few weeks ago so has been counting down to it

Another fantastic day out in blazing sunshine in Errol

 Only had one kia adventure into a wheat field, plus a destroyed tyre via a metal pole base - leading to an interesting afternoon undertaken on a space saver!

Courses for yesterday - the afternoon was the same courses reversed.

Did visit very briefly yesterday afternoon, had my 87 year old dad in tow so couldn't stay for long but looked like fun.

Wanted to say hello but didn't fancy walking around asking random people if they 'The Moog'!

Main thing is both my boys said they would fancy a go at autotest in the future so that was a win. Will have to find a suitable jalopy.

Lol - certainly would have got strange looks.  I pretty much spent the whole time in the car as was navigator for two young guns and then my own runs. 

Next one is 6th October and I shall be there. My niece has been bitten by the bug and wants to go back.  Potentially taking both Micra and Kia again - once I have fixed the issues with both.

Fairly pleased especially as spent the afternoon sessions nursing the car on this

Saltire Rally Club Next Event Treasure Tour 15th September 2024 

The next club event is the Treasure Tour. A fun day out for all members, ideal for families and standard road cars.

A straightforward route around Perthshire, a map will be provided, and if you wish, collect the "treasure" as you go.

Starting & Finishing in Pitlochry with Bacon Rolls tea / coffee at the start

Today was the latest round of Autotesting at Errol. 

It is the micras last outing as scrap man cometh tomorrow. 

Smaller group of cars today 

The interesting issue is that the farmer nearby had sprayed slurry on the field and mostly covered one of the tracks! 

It turned the surface into ice.

First run out and I found out what was knocking from the micra... 

The rear silencer fell off at the first bump, removing the banging and also making the car sound more fruity. 

The car tyres pretty much became slicks very quickly leading to some very interesting handling!

Micra did well, although the bottle run at the end finished early due to electrical issues

For future notes a 1.4 Micra driven hard gets...

The Saltire Rally club has released the dates for 2025.

First up is 9th Feb at Errol airfield.  I will be definitely doing it in the Focus, and with a following wind I may be able to take the mx5. 

Anyone else fancy it?

Today was the day.  Massive pile of poo on way in!

Needed a land rover to pull him out of the field. 

Overall a good day. Ending with a bottle run, with the fastest time getting a bottle of whiskey!

Ace. I need to get out to an event once the Toledo is back on the road. I was navigating 12 car events regularly for a while and I’m missing it!

I forgot all about this. I'd love to try one in the Kangoo. Forwards only would be handy as it's a bit vanny though

Having had a 406 estate in the past I’m not so sure it’s a worse autotest candidate than my automatic xc70!
