Xsara parts for £postage

Would you happen to know if the wiper motor is the same as a Berlingo, please?

Is the rear beam worth saving for a future 306 or ZX project?

(I think they're the same, aren't they?)

Is "bonded rear suspension unit" the beam? It looks okay to me but it might be on its way out. Getting rid of a rolling car is a lot easier than one missing wheels and axles so I'm not keen

The front wiper motor? It might be, I'll check on the Citroën parts database when I'm home.

Wiper motor part number is different between Xsara (6405H4) and Berlingo (6405J5/6405L1 depending on age) unfortunately.

Doesn't mean that they're not potentially interchangeable as some PSA motors are despite different parts numbers.

I'd guess that the advisories for bonded units are referring to the beam mounting blocks rather than the beam itself, as these rubber blocks deteriorate and eventually fail with age. The beams are notorious for failing though - excess negative camber, stiff to move or squeaking/knocking normally pointing at it being goosed - but they are interchangeable between 306, Xsara and ZX's as mentioned.

 "bonded rear suspension unit"

Edit : beaten to it!

I wonder if the beam is worth saving after all, the car's only covered 106k and it sits square at the back.

If in doubt, load it to the bump stops with cement/firewood or whatever, and see if the wheels still sit right. Any faults are more obvious with the back weighed down.

The Berlingo's camber is a bit odd when it's loaded but it's not as bad as the white 405 estate I had.

I wonder if Xsara's beam will fit.

Xsara and Berlingo beams are a completely different fitment sadly. Partner beams are the same as you'd expect, and 405 beams are the same fitment.

Is the Xsara beam disk or drum braked btw? I know the later HDi models are disk but can't remember on the TD's. If it's disk I could do with a NSR brake caliper.

I believe it's a 406 beam on the Berlingo.

The 406 uses multi link independent suspension at the rear I'm sure. At least that doesn't seize and collapse with age but I'm sure replacing the bushes and springs on a conventional IRS setup wouldn't be a lot cheaper than a new beam.

Isn't Bub contemplating the rear axle on his C15? He's up at FOADS now so near* you, and if anyone can make* it fit it'll be FOAD!

How hard can it be etc blah blah

The C15 uses horizontal coils rather than torsion bars. Scotland is quite a big country

Could i be cheeky and ask for the wing mirrors and the little trim panels covering the fixings on the inside and the indicator and wiper stalks please if not to hard to get off.  Would love the front door handles too as the always break on xsara's but they are a pain to get out so not going to ask for them. Thats a very kind offer off you. Can sort money via paypal gift if thats convenient.
