I can't understand why they cost so much

The 3dr Cosworth is ridiculously floppy. Seriously, I've driven rusty Saab convertibles with more solid feeling shells. The Sapphire Cosworth is much, much nicer to drive than the 3dr. Better suspension, better handling, better riding. Which is why I bought a Sapphire instead of a 3dr.

I collected a new 3dr Cosworth from a dealership in 1988 (they didn't sell all that well, this one was an E reg) and even though I was 18 it was obvious that the shell on the thing was seriously lacking torsional rigidity. The Sapphire doesn't suffer anywhere nearly as badly.

I wouldn't have a 3dr Sierra, I would have another Sapphire Cosworth.

Ahh but 2wd Saphs had worse front hubs roll centre wise (except the very early ones that used up the rest of the 3 door type) and only ended up with the h14 arb which gave the extra degree of castor because of the findings of the twitchy ness of the 3 doors which the customers complained about, the rest was pretty much the same except the pinch bolt type tca to match the hubs on the saph and the better rear arbs fitted to the saph compared to the chicken bone they passed off as an arb and fitted to the 3 door, in reality they tamed the saph for the masses, but both cars were seriously flawed by the stupid rear beams

3 door sierra shells are known to occasionally twist - and crack the windscreen.

I never had a problem with my XR4i, it went sideways everywhere once I fitted the LSD out of a XR4x4. What else could a twat in his early 20s want?

I'd still love a Cossie & I don't care how slow they are these days.

The xr4i shell had a bit more rigidity with having the extra pillar, the only problem I've ever had with the xr4i was the lack of power, I used to go hunting them for fun with my modified pinto powered sierras, they never could keep up with a hot pinto

Most 1970's/80's motorbikes are, to me, very overpriced, although I admit I profited from this with a 1982 Kawasaki Z1000ELR (Eddie Lawson replica) which I bought for a song due to being offered it by an aquaintance of mine who was the executor of an estate.

Long story short is that it had been stored properly  so needed re commissioning (full service, new tyres, brake fliud and pads,

and the paintwork needed doing) which were all done within a month.

Rode it to the MOT place-good god, it was horrendous. Didnt handle*, brakes were woeful*, engine was ok, if a little vibey ,  but I expected more power. It looked fucking ace though. MOT obtained, it was immediately put up for sale, and must have had 2 dozen enquiries. More than doubled my money within 6 weeks.

*Just like my 1994 H-D, but this had engine mods that give it more power that it can cope with
