Not Darwen in Lancs, but a car I have already nicknamed. Mrs M'coli has kindly given me a lift to the station, and I spotted these lovelies on the A1M:

Why Darwin? Cycling fans might be able to work it out.

Ooooh, this is interesting.    Especially if there is another Darwin connotation to BMC.   1800 Ute?

Not Darwin, Australia, either. Just passed a Sheffield Supertram. Disappointed with the buffet service on this train - it has neither foie gras NOR lobster.

Is it a Bedford Beagle? (Camper conversion on an HA van - shite holiday gold.)

Or maybe a Regata Weekend - survival of the FIAT-est(ate)?

I've cheated with a reverse image search on the cyclist.

It's much newer than your suggestions. Quite rare by the standards of the manufacturer and best known for crusty arches that you can't really buy repair sections for.

Ten out of ten, Richard. AMC Rebel picked me up from Derby station and took me to where my roffle prize awaited.

He's a top bloke, especially as he didn't mind waiting a couple of weeks to allow me to get my stuff sorted out. The v5 arrived today too, so well done to the new DVLA system.

The obligatory petrol station photo:

I like that colour.  My Uncle Donald had a 1969 Corsair V4 almost exactly that colour when I was a wean.

Not long home - it drives superbly, and seems fairly economical despite seeing the upper end of the revcounter a few times. The seating position is a little interesting for me, however - it's definately one to drive with the shoes off. As to the colour, if I were to go hunting for one, that green would have been top of the list.

It's been nicknamed Darwin because of the cyclist, Darwin Atapuma. Yes, I'm a sad git.

ISTR that you can make rear wheelarch repair panels for these by using the front wings for a Peugeot 206.

Spending a few minutes in the car with M'Coli made me realise that whilst I thought I had good skillz at spotting shite, I haven't.  He spotted several things I missed - worryingly, since I was driving, it seemed like I was driving around with my eyes shut.

Anyway, he's a top bloke, and here's the handover pic taken by my daughter - who had expressed a lot of concern about whether the car would be going to "a nice person".  I checked with her, and she's OK with the new owner.

I must say the pez shot did make me a little wistful just for a second - that has been a good wee car for me, I hope it carries on behaving itself now.

The driving position thing was interesting - I hope you can find a suitable one - at 6' 4" (take size 12 shoes too) and able to squeeze in, I'd have said it ought to be fine, but it did look a bit sub-optimal at first sight.

Hmm, this is going to be turned into a for sale thread (or I'll just create a new one, it'll be easier).

There are a couple of good reasons for me to sell it - the first one is that I really don't fit it!  My arse is too wide for the seats, I sit on top of them rather than in them.  Next is the shortness of my limbs in relation to the rest of me, I have to sit fairly well forward to be able to reach the pedals - this leaves me trying to slouch in the seat to see under the top of the screen (and that's with the seats right down at its lowest).  The fact that the wife can't sit in the seats either for more than an hour due to her hip makes it a no-no, too.

The last reason is there may be a little Y10 re-entering my life...
