As you live over there VW (lucky man), do you know when and why the French changed from their wonderful black registration plates to the current white/yellow ones? I've even seen some red ones occasionally.

Posted

Nice spots there. Wish I lived in France :( *sigh*

Posted

red plates are normally reserved for officals/diplomats etc

not sure why they changed off black plates but soon we'll lose all our registrations as we go over to the new system

currently its 1234 AB 16 (the 16 bit is to be removed and in place a department style logo) although the good thing about the new laws coming in means you will not have to re-register a car if you buy a vehicle from another department (change te paperwork yes but it will keep its original plates)

although they are trying to bring out special rules for the classic car owners who are all up in arms about losing there old style painted plates

onlt way to either know your cars well, or convince the owner you need to see his Carte Gris (V5)

most of the road has gone, actually most of the lane is inaccessable to vehicles unless you got a quad or tractor... now makes the road sign redundant

That Citroen GSA is nice! France seems to have different view on keeping really old cars to our nation driven on buying new all the time on credit.

mostly old folk with old cars, most are disappearing fast replaced by crappy clios/meganes/lagunas/307's etc

*POP*OMG Monsieur VWP, with this selection you are really spoiling us  That looks a superb yard, I'd spend ages in there. Would probably cost me a fortune as well.
