Astle Park steam shindig - with added chod

Much steamy goodness was there for perusal, along with trucks, bus shite, tractors, motorcycles, military stuff, commercial vehicles, and of course cars. This is my personal pick of the choddage.

Top stuff, thanks for sharing the photos 8)

The Bedford isn't an ambulance conversion, it's actually a CA Debonair

Blingy gold badges on the green Cresta

Another Consul - I wonder why the only evidence of it being a Ford is a tiny badge on the wings?

I've missed out the E types, MGBs, etc, but did have a picture of an MG flavour Farina which seems to have been lost.

Fair doos! I've seen an ambulance with the same kind of front glass arrangement and just presumed.

I love those Farinas, shame I've missed the boat.

Love how Bond managed to design a car that looks like it's supposed to have four wheels even though it only has 3...

the A35 is an A30 (chrome grille with no surround and a smaller rear window)

The Cambridge estate is the twin of one I gave away in about 1984, I'd bought it as a stop-gap as my employer didn't like me using my 1959 Lotus 7 for work and told me to get a proper car, the Cambridge (cheapest thing I could find for sale in the local paper) was even less popular as when you slammed the doors rust fell off it. Just before the MOT was up on it a chap came to chat to me telling me that he had a similar Cambridge, so when the MOT ran out I got in touch and let him have the car for spares (he welded it up and got it back on the road).

To my employer's disgust I replaced the Lotus with my first Morgan, I insisted that it was a proper car as they ahd been making them like that since 1936

That white Consul with the (Pembroke?) Coral roof looks nice.   Ref. the badging, I reckon all of it was much more discreet back then - we used to think Austins really were called "Austin of England" when we were kids.   They never had any model emblem other than a discreet narrow shield on the grille or bonnet top.   On the other hand "Bling" was a perfect word to describe the Cresta and Zephyr Zodiac if such a term had existed back then!

Ah, thanks for that - I knew something was different, without a side by side comparison, I'd probably never have spotted it.
