vulgalour Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 The names of the people involved mean nothing to me at all, but the fact of a 58 year old car that has only done 74 miles is quite surprising. In the pictures it looks different to a restored example, there's something about fit and finish that makes it look different somehow. Perhaps it's just all the trim bits being untouched and things not being colour matched in the modern way, like the boot lining being a different colour for example. A very impressive thing to exist and to have survived in original condition for so long and absolutely worthless as a car now. It's only value really is as a museum piece, a thing to look at, rather than a thing to be fully enjoyed. Quite a bittersweet thing really that, like so many items that cannot be enjoyed for what they are because it would destroy their monetary value and, to some degree, historical significance. The other thing is that $53,000 NZD (or about £29,000 GBP) doesn't seem an awful lot for an item like this. It is an awful lot for a Studebaker Champion though. brickwall, Uncle Jimmy, STUNO and 1 other 4
STUNO Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 Looking at the photos it must be the most basic model. There is no radio or heater and rubber floor mats. probably lower spec than even the rep's special.
Squire_Dawson Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Wow, seriously impressive! There was an even more basic model, the Studebaker Scotsman, available at the time, which was almost devoid of bright trim and had painted hub caps. Supernaut 1

danthecapriman Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Lovely looking car. There is always something special about unrestored cars, as Vulg says. They never quite look the same after a resto, not in a bad way but you can usually tell it's been done. It's great to see cars like this still around too, they're only original once. eddyramrod 1
