I had one, managed to charge one battery before it stopped working correctly. They are shit.

I've got several intelligent chargers ( not that one) and they only wake up when they recognise a battery, and act appropriately.

So, why not just put a battery on it, and see what happens?

Aldi shit is meant to have a 3 year warranty so if it is shagged you might still be able to wangle a refund at the store.

Dunno bout them but I got a footpump from lidl the other day for £7 (not used it yet) and comes with a 3 yr guarantee ffs....buying food from there's one thing but other stuff mmmmm time will tell

I've got one. It was great. Then No1 son tried to use it as a boost pack. It's fucked now.

Switch it on, press the button it starts to charge, if it doesn't its knackered.

Not got that one but got another one from Aldi. Mine only comes on when i connect to a battery and if the battery is really dead takes a while until it shows anything.

I've had  a couple of the similar sort from Lidl, they work identically to the CTEK equivalent, but invariably after a couple of years (and i've lost the effin receipt) they pack up, the CTEK i bought many years ago still works fine, when i can find the bloody thing.

If I remember correctly, the Lidl ones were rebranded CTEK units. I have one in the garage, worked fine last time* I used it.. If it is truly broken, Lidl and Aldi stuff typically have a 3 year warranty so just take it back, the worst they can do without a receipt is say no.

That said, you do need to connect it onto a battery, otherwise this could be thought of as Shrodinger's battery charger.

*yes, useful information I know

++Update++

The manual says it has a one year warranty. Here's a link.. http://goo.gl/0G2bO4

Mine lasted a year then died.

 Yeah, it's all in the planning.

If it is similar to a CTEK, don't worry. The light will flicker till its connected to a battery.

Beware that these only charge partially discharged batteries I think they need a minimum of 9volts or summat like that.
