Ignition lock grief

If the key won't turn in the ignition barrel I.e there's a problem with the barrel, in order to repair the barrel do you need a complete new set of locks? I'd sooner avoid this... Is there a way of repairing it? It's a 2003 Focus

No idea. I'm at work. The other half was ringing the phone off the hook griping about it. I'd take it that she can take the key out yes. I've never had a problem with it other than occasionally I've needed to give the key a slight press in as I turn it. Key isn't worn at all. I've a spare somewhere in the house. I'll try that when I'm in. Just enquiring if there was a problem with the barrel if I'd need to obtain a new ignition barrel from breakers and if it would work? Be a pain if I needed to swap it as you use the key to withdraw the barrel.

I've some graphite oil in aerosol. See what crack is tonight when I get in. When I bought it, the guy used the key we use for the door and another for the ignition. In my wisdom I figured I'd leave the 'other' key in the house as a spare on the basis they were the same key so there's no point having the same key. We'll see if I'm right when I get in... Thanks for reply.

If you get the key turned but its temperamental, now is the time to replace the lock. As usually the lock mechanism is only removable when you've turned the key.
