Anybody a user of TOAF? - apologies if its been mentioned before

http://toaf.roverki.eu/index.php/en/

I use it with one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152097223533

does a lot of T4 functions, so far have used it to:

- enable DRL (30% of Headlights)

- enable Windows Up/Down on Key

- disabled auto rear-demister

- cleared a bucket load of old error codes (that generic readers cant see)

not bad for a free piece of software. seems to work quite well, but lot of objections from testbook T4 owners, saying it risky etc.

This actually looks like a bit of a game changer.  I got sick of people trying to charge me a fortune for T4 sessions.

In fact, if it turns out to be a good toy, this could put another 75 back on the drive later this year.

Top man.

You can get Dieselnutjob's Rover analyser tool for £150 and never need another Testbook session can you not? I am tempted to get one myself.

What a well timed post!

I have agreed to buy a Rover 75 V6 Auto Touring and get it tomorrow!

It has a history that the ABS light gets put out and comes back on after a short while. It has a fresh MOT but I am not sure if the ABS light will be on or off when I get it. I will buy the cable now!

Will toaf work on my old XP laptop or my Hudl 2 tablet?

ive only ever used it with a relatively new win10 laptop, but i have seen other people post from XP laptops.

i think the important thing is to make sure the USB>OBD2 cable drivers are installed correctly and it is showing as a com port. which happened automatcally on win10, but i dont think will happen on XP

download TOAF Tool 0.5.00.43 -

The latest release is only a few days old, and doesnt fix much.

The cable itself should have come with a driver CD, so use those drivers (if you need to)

if you like, i can take a look at shitefest?

Yes the cable came with a CD.

I think looking at Shitefest is a great idea, although the battery in my laptop has a very sort life so we may have to go to my house that is only 2 miles away.

I should not be left alone with technology, as when I went to school "a down loads" was when you had too much to drink!

Hello, I bought the test lead from EBay that you had in your link. I have seen on different forums that pins 7 & 8 need to be linked. Do I need to it to this test lead? Also, do I need to install any software from the disc that came with the test lead? There are three different software installed on the disc.

Hello, I am unable to find this analysis tool you have mentioned. Do you have a link for it?

I've been playing around with it for a wee bit now, on my ancient xp laptop. VAG lead off eBay for a fiver and soldered pins 7&8. Downloaded toaf and the driver from the same place, set the com port and it worked straight away. Brilliant bit of kit but I learned very quickly not to Mention it anywhere in the 75 community.its as welcome as a fart in a lift.

I would put money on that the developer of it used a rover tool (TestBook?) on his car and watched the data go across the bus. Then using that, made his tool which replicates that info.

Nice of him to give it away for free though. I suspect in a couple of versions time, he may start charging. Mostly as it makes a good incentive to have the motivation to carry on working on it.

It's a shame that the enthusiasts aren't taking it in with open arms. I guess they've spent a lot on their Testbook setups and feel a bit miffed if they're not going to be worth a lot with cheaper alternatives?

For me I think this sort of stuff is essential for keeping modern cars alive as they get older. Also to allow them to be fixed by individuals rather than "specialists".
