Urko Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 The re-gassed aircon is now working, but it's be better if the low speed radiator fan was working. Just like the R75/ZTT these rely on a big FO resistor to run the fan's slow speed. Unlike the R75, I can't track down a source for a new resistor - there are loads of heater(blower) ones on offer, but none of the rad ones. What am I doing wrong?
Guest Hooli Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Have you got the old one off? I find searching for the part number often works. billyboy406v6 1
hairymel Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 resistor coil on the side of the rad? take a pic of your one and i will see if i have a similar one in my spares pile
colnerov Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Is it not part of the heater control panel itself? I think he's after the one for the main rad not the heater.
Jifflemon Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Look for millenniums or thunders being broken; they had aircon as standard.
hairymel Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 have a look at http://www.pumapeople.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83643&hl= as well - apparently there are relays and fuses for both speeds which may be inoperative pretty sure i will have a puma or fiesta resistor, if you need one
beko1987 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Puma Black's (leather interior, stupid f1 style wheels) had air con too. Mine was broken, and would near stall the engine if idling with it on
Urko Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Thanks all - I will do further investigation at the weekend. Aircon does work, doesn't stall car but fan slow speed is u/s. High speed works eventually.
hairymel Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 i have had a rummage and have retrieved 2 rad mounted resistors, 1 from a mk6 fiesta and another from a random mk4/5fiesta/puma fan housing. to my untrained eye they look interchangable and are both marked 0.69ohms if you need one/both drop me a pm with your address and i will pop them in the post
Jim Bell Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Use one of these and you WILL see improvements later this year. The documents don't lie. hairymel, Pillock and Supernaut 3
