The Dutch were there in force. And the purple and black cars were team last rights from Ireland.

A lot of the foreign cars were bought over and raced by the dutch etc. like these chaps at Standlake on the day after Ringwood.

Looks like they were all RHD, may have been converted for safety.

You'll probably find that many of these grannies had been "scrapped" years ago and have.been hanging around since then before finally making it to the track. Some had been purchased from Europe too as they are just too hard to find over here, hence the coke bottle coupes and 2 door saloons e.t.c. think there's much more to choose from over there, scrap wise.

Yup. I can think of a racer in S-o-T who started saving scrapped grannies in the mid 80s. I actually saw inside the building in the early 90s and there must have been well over 100 in there stacked on top of each other.

The months of work that's gone in to getting those mk1s track worthy you wouldn't believe.

 

Filler and a fresh blow over with paint will hide no end of wob.

 

I've seen cars with structural parts plated on the inside. Gaffer tape round the rest then plenty of filler raced

 

They look lovely with a same job signs paint job.

 

But without the plates and weld you wouldnt want to be sat in it on the road

Nudge and spin is Prod Stock innit? Unlimited bangers is, as they say unlimited. Cant have passengers for that in my experience as you will end up flattened as someone mounts you.

this was an unofficial event, cars with glass in but lights airbags mirrors and rubbing strips removed. the idea is to not crash into each other too hard as the cars need to last for 10 or so races. just a fun day out really with none of the 'competitiveness' that takes the fun out of a lot of motorsport.
