Big weekend collection (a cautionary tale p2)

Yes, my thoughts entirely Cort. If it had been close to home I might have been more willing to haggle and take it on as a project, although having said that it had far too many things wrong for me to want to take it on even if it had been half the price. 450 miles is a long way to drive any vehicle, and that one broke down four times in the space of 300 yards from their house.

That did occur to me as well! I don't know which contractor my breakdown insurance (Equity Red Star) use in the Fife area, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Barry's company.

Yes, It would have been me or one of our guys. Did the kettle work? We need these details if going South.

Transit's a 3 litre!

Didn't think I'd ever clap eyes on that shitbox again! I hope it still wouldn't start so they had to push it up the road and onto the drive.

The Marina was supposedly low mileage but looked quite ropey up close, it had clearly been sat there a long time. Didn't pay much attention to the Sherpa, but it and the Transit looked decent enough, although I'd be surprised if they were roadworthy, especially if these morons try to sell them.

No idea if the kettle/cooker worked, I assume it was broken along with most of the fucking thing.

Can't get "Into the Valley" out of my head now....

Ahoy, ahoy, land, sea and sky
Ahoy, ahoy, boy, man and soldier
Ahoy, ahoy, deceived and then punctured
Ahoy, ahoy, long may they die

Sounds like it needs setting fire to, with the sellers locked inside it

What a complete shiter for you Dicky, sorry you had a wasted journey. I did have that one in my camper hunting watch list, it was the lack of any detailed description and the sellers previous neg feedback that stopped me pursuing it.

Let's all keep an eye out for it and try and stop this spunkbucket from selling it to some other poor bugger.

Bad news, just goes to show how misleading pictures can be!

At least the "Relax, it's a Rover" 600 did you both proud.

It did, it's an absolutely fantastic car, cruised at 80mph most of the night and it's pretty high geared for motorway driving so relaxed as well. And automatic. It's just as comfortable as a 75 without all the added complications and maladies of the 75 range.

Not bad for £230 off eBay two years ago. One previous owner and FSH as well.
