Does anybody know if these are prone to some mayo under the oil filler cap thru daily use?

Or has the headgasket started to shit itself? It's running fine not using any water and staying in normal temp range at the minute.

It's on symbo'd daily 06 fiesta 1.4. I've not told here about it yet or I'll end up been here personal taxi.

Is the car used for short journeys? That would certainly cause the 'Mayo' build up under the oil filler cap, the same thing used to happen with my sister in laws Puma until it exploded (not OMG HGF related I might add!)

^what bigstraight6 said - if daily but short journeys, that might cause it. Tons of mayo of just a little? Could just be from condensation - fiesta 1.4 on an 06 is that a diseasel if duratec? Pretty sure the petrol 1.4 is Zetec unless they renamed it, ford did screw around the naming a fair bit.

Petrol. Big duratec sign on the plastic engine cover.

It's does the usual short trips but also York to Leeds 4 or 5 times a week. Not masses of mayo but enough to start keeping an eye on it.

It's done 100k plus

York to Leeds and back should be far enough to get rid of condensation mayo.

Sounds like OMGHGF to me. Unusual on those.

I'll just add another anecdotal - 'you don't see HGF much with these'

From my limited knowledge Duratec's are prone to coolant loss through thermostat housing, and mine leaks from water pump. But if you have no water loss....
