focus fuel pump replacement

Recommended Posts

It's having the time what with work, family etc... I've made a start on it, started the cut with the grinder, then using the tin snips to cut the metal out. It's slow going but it'll get there...I've got a hangover not conducive with car repairs today. Just popped out for a few...

Hole cut. Used aviation snips. Wouldn't fancy wielding something like a grinder through it though, you've only got to have a hose loose or the cables and you'd cut straight through them. Awaiting arrival of the actual pump now to swap it.

What I ought to have done a month ago was rolled the fucker onto its side and got both the exhaust and the fuel pump done in one go...

Anyway, wait on the pump coming and I'll chuck it in.

The facelift mk1s seem worse as do the estates, there's always the tide mark of underseal up to the bottoms of the doors where it's had the back of the sills welded. They seem to be either solid or really bad. Particularly the inner wheel arches where the seatbelt bolts in. Then there's the obligatory hole in the floor where some bodging fuckers been taking a short cut to swap the pump.

Mine is a 51 pre facelift and its solid  ,  it was the gearbox that killed it for the previous owner  run it without oil to the point it was stuck in 3rd  i had to cut a hole in the side to force it out of gear  ,  engine is in a Sierra now
