2001 Rover 75 2.0 CDT Connoisseur SE. Copperleaf red. 67000 miles.

I'm going to have to sell my Rover as I'm fed up to the back teeth of it, and struggling to juggle work and car downtime.

Bad bits:

  • Gearbox is flaring when changing gear, and occasionally slipping under load. Had it confirmed by the garage today it's knackered - needs stripping and rebuilding. At the moment it is driveable and the above is only noticeable under harsh acceleration. Garage man couldn't find anything wrong until it was well warmed up and given some welly.
  •
  • Front offside CV joint is noisy - been the same since I got the car and hasn't got any worse.
  •
  • There is a fractured rear spring, which is par for the course but probably needs changing before the MOT (April).
  •
  • Engine fans don't work on any speed. A well documented 75 thing. Needs a replacement unit although engine doesn't get higher than 89'c, but it does affect aircon (which works fine at speed, but if it's run at slow speeds you'll knacker the compressor).

Good bits:

  • 67,000 miles. As far as I can ascertain this is genuine. It fits with the condition of the car, and also MOT histories online.
  •
  • Engine is good. No nasty noises. Pulls well (160ps remap) and starts on the button every time.
  •
  • Suspension has just had a load of money chucked at it with new top mounts, drop links and bottom arm bushes.
  •
  • Interior is in very good condition.
  •
  • Last year's MOT was advisory free - If you'd like to check the numberplate is "T4 HOF" (won't be going with the car!). I have a set of its original numberplates.
  •

Spec wise it's connie SE with the usual trimmings: heated leather interior, memory driver's seat, trip computer (couple of lines on the display), cruise control, and even an electric rear roller blind. Fancy - and it all works. No even any lazy door lock motors! Two keys.

It's a genuine straight car which has not been thrashed by me. The gearbox was found to be low on oil which we now suspect prolonged use has damaged it. It had a fluid change a month ago which highlighted these other issues, so the level is correct now if that's any consolation.

Car is located in Aylesbury or Princes Risborough depending when you'd like to pick up or which is more convenient.

£offers and open to swaps etc...

That really is a shame - I hope she finds a new owner willing to sort out the gearbox.

Don't break her - she's way too good for that.

I'd be insulting you and jeopardising my current marital bliss, but I'll offer £150, as this old girl cannot die.

Chaps... I've come to my senses. Just authorised refurbishment of the 'box.

Withdrawn from sale. I'll update topic properly when I'm at home with an hactual computer.
