It's not.

Once in my life I for some odd reason considered (still not sure why) to buy an OVLOV and went to a dealer to look at one.

It broke down during the test drive. So I went and bought me an Olds Custom Cruiser.

I used to work for a ovlov dealer & had to collect a 960 from about 150miles away. By the time I got it back almosts every warning light was on & of the toys like ABS/TC etc had given up. Quite funny as it was pretty new & due to go on the forecourt.

 

Oh the bright side, once all the leccy shite gave up it turns out they drift pretty well in the wet.

So it seems Volvo had electronic problems even before the famous S80 Mk1.  :mrgreen:

I’ve had my P35 Range Rover 4.6 for nearly 10 years.

 

Battery is over 11 years old. The only thing I’ve changed apart from tyres and exhaust are the air struts. They recommend changing at 10 years old-cost £260 for 4.

 

I now have a major problem-the headlining on the sunroof is starting to fall down.

Surely the AS choice has to be the Nissan QX? Nothing is more barge like, Luxo, or shite in one combination.

I had an M plate Mark III LS400 a few years ago-fantastic car. 230,000 miles on the clock, and the interior was mint, not a mark anywhere. The exterior was perfect too, just a couple of scuffs on the front bumper, engine was smooth and the gear changes were only noticed as the rev counter needle moved. They do suffer from scabby wheels though (especially the later Mark IV's), something to do with the composition of the alloy Lexus used. I found a place in Canvey that completely stripped, straightened and powder coated the wheels for £50 each. looked fantastic when done, and still looked good when I saw the car again three years later.

 

As for mpg, 28mpg could be achieved with a light touch on the accelerator, but mid teens if giving it some. I surprised more than a few friends by giving them a practical demonstration of its performance-sub 7 second 0-60 and get to over double the national limit top speed.

 

I have a W124 and a Saab 9-5 now, but neither are, in my mind, luxobarges and just can't compare to the LS. I did have an X300 Jaguar which was the most unreliable, horrible POS I have ever owned. What ever could break, broke. Fix one thing, and something else broke.  Ad infinitum. True to the spirit of AS perhaps, but just too much for me

Ah yes, that 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds seemed pretty unrealistic to nearly everyone who got into it. Smooth Lexus V8 didn't seem to lose any of its 269 horses over the years...

The one that died on me was still proudly SU carburetted and had the electronics inside the radio, the only place where they belong in any car.

And now that I think of it, the only car that broke down on numerous occasions during a drive it day we had in North Wales a few years back,

was Dugong's Analzone, which ultimately had to be recoveraged by the RAC. So if you want something halfways reliable, do not buy a Volvo.

I also firmly believe, that luxury begins with eight cylinders.

One could easily up that ante by a whopping 50%, something every man should have done at least once in his life.
