Was I the only one hoping it was a Vickers Valiant?

If it was, I want to see the video of him adjusting the valves while the engine is running.

Finally got around to fitting the Yank style plates today, had a pile of new bits arrive this week too. Got a nice discreet little rev counter for £8.99 , new trunk seal for £11, Thermostat (not warming up properly) for £10 and the electronic igintion is on its way.

Really is a pleasure to drive, so light!

Looks awesome. Watched Duel this weekend on tv, bloody good film. Seriously, have you checked those hoses yet? Otherwise you might get a spider on your leg.

If .... I HAD a garage (wide enough - Leech/Wimpey need not apply) .... I would PROBABLY want to fill it with one of these .... :-P

Had a bit of time in the garage earlier, tried replacing the screenwash pump but the bottle has become so brittle it collapsed completely. A new universal kit has been ebay'd (£12.99 Inc bottle , pump, pipes , bracket etc)

Removed the instrument pack to repair the loose Speedo cable, had a bit of a tidy of the wiring too.

Removed the redundant heated rear screen switch (elements fallen to bits) and where it was, will be the location for a discreet 50mm rev counter.

The Valiant is getting a bit of a cult following with my customers, I still haven't replaced my blown (and now scrapped) Mondeo due to being absolutely stacked out with work, so it's been out earning its keep this week.

The Facebook group for my company https://www.facebook.com/groups/aspleyautomotive/ has a couple of photos on from people spotting it when I'm working and the common opinion seems to be to get some "old skool" sign writing on the doors and use it for promoting the company.

Spotted in Hinckley this morning apparently :)

It is a really nice looking old thing. Fair play to you for using it as a daily too. I think it'd make a good advertising piece, certainly stands out.

Electronic ignition fitted, took 10 minutes in total. Two wires and two screws, old stuff in bin. Fires up and idles perfectly, pulls like a train too. Points had got a hole through them so caught just in time.

Excellent. The electronic set ups are usually really easy to fit and well worth it in my opinion.

But, don't throw the old parts away! Keep them all in a little bag or box in the car somewhere just incase something does go wrong, that way you can change back to a working points set up if your stuck somewhere. I've done exactly this with my Mercury, you never know!

Good thinking, popped them in the trunk along with a few other odds. Will be doing a fair bit of mileage over the next couple of months so best to play safe. Saying that , I still haven't got a spare wheel! 5x4" bit of and odd one.

You could make a pitch changer in alloy, or buy one - or find a wheel ;)

Newish audis and vw's use 5X100mm which is probably close enough to 5x4" to use as an emergency spare.

edit - damn, did I just call a golf mk4 newish? :o

Popped over here from the F150 thread.  What became of the Valiant - still have it, or did the rust get away from you?
