Vehicular needs have changed...

Owing to the ongoing works on the Oldsmobile, and the Mercury now being a NYPD replica and not a daily car, I am looking for a daily car in exchange (swap) for my 1991 Honda Prelude. It is lovely, but a bit small for the daily stuff. I haz a dog etc. Looking for an XM really. Had three in the past... Ideally an estate, but hey...

Anyone?

Is the Honda automatic?  I reckon I could find your house again... ;)

That's the ex-Mikeknight Prelude isn't it?  I miss that car but have nothing suitable/that I'd be willing to part with for a swap right now.

It is. The very same. A lovely car that never fails to proceed or impress. Drove it to Blackpool Honda recently to book our Accord in for some recall work, several of the staff came out to have a look at the Prelude.

I am quickly talking myself out if the swappage offer now. I would miss it very much!

Oooh, I liked that Prelude, it'd fit nicely with my Aerodeck.

Please get it Eddy, then when you come to sell it might have space (fat chance atm).

Still prevaricating about the swappage and know bugger all about Eddy's Saab. He is out on important business at the moment I assume. (Delivering pies to the needy).

Plus I reckon the Prelude (at 77,000 miles) and jolly smart inside and out may be worth a tad more...

Dunno...

Ahhh.

Thing is Eddy, I only drive autos now due to a trapped nerve/pain thingy. The pies are tempting, as is the Saab really. It would need to have a very light clutch and be reliable...

If you're on auto-only for medical reasons then perhaps I'd better stop trying to flog you the Saab.  I couldn't in all honesty describe the clutch as mega-light.  Besides, Classic Car Buyer readers have only just been introduced to it!  They'd be awfully confused if I got rid...

As I only do around 1000 miles a year in the 'second' car the clutch lightness would only be a problem if it was proper heavy..

Hmmm

In that case, I couldn't recommend an XM manual. Right-hand drive PSA stuff with cable clutches are rarely light - my 306 was bloody awful too. The 2.5 turbo diesel has a hydraulic clutch, as do HDi Xantias I think?
