Weddings and honeymoon related car shite

Inspired by greengartside's wedding today and cms206's around the corner, it got me thinking about vehicular shite around weddings and honeymoons.

I got married in 2009. Firstly, a mate was late collecting me from the house as he got a bit lost. He collected me eventually in the vehicle he was borrowing (my wife's 106 which shat it's clutch 4 days before the big day and I ended up changing it on the drive) and we got to the church okay. The Pug is a 2000 plate 106XN in Oirish market spec with miserable 954cc engine. It went up on axle stands back in 2012 and has been there since....

The actual wedding car was some forgettable newish Mercedes.

My car at the time, a Citroen GS X2 was lent out (both cars were on open driving policies) to friends to get about. Still have it.

Then about a month before getting married, I bought a 1982 Volvo 343 with the assistance of a mate. He did some work on the brakes and it got a ticket no problem. The first Mrs Honda knew about it was when we were picking it up from mate's mother's house. She initially thought I was borrowing it from mate's mother. Er, no. I bought it darling.

Perfect honeymoon transport. Apart from the belts being a tad slack, got us everywhere without any FTPs.

So, anyone else got any pics/stories of wedding/honeymoon related chod?

Most memorable thing about my wedding day was the plan to go on honeymoon in the Sierra.

I went to fill it up while my new Mrs got changed and the tank split and pissed petrol all over the forecourt.

We eventually went away in a diesel Skoda.

Wedding No.1 (1987) was assisted* by a 6 month old Fiat Mirafiori Twincam that resolutely refused to start owing to dampness on Italian distributor doings.

Had to be push started by me and best man fully suited and booted while best man's wife twiddled lever and pedals.

Best man had already been up scrappy that morning and liberated a Toyota Crown gearbox for his motor so that was already in bits on the driveway and thus unusable.

The only other available transport was best man's wife's Fiat 500 and be fucked if we were all going in that, nice little thing though it was.

Mrs Rocker Mk1 arrived in my Grandfather's V reg. Honda Accord.

Luckily the Millyfrilly behaved for the Cornwall honeymoon.

Wedding No. 2  (2005) was more successful (as is the marriage) because I relied upon my Minor to get me there on time.   Mrs Rocker Mk2 was conveyed in her own 260E driven by her son.     Honeymoon transportation (Stateside) was taken care of by a Chrysler Sebring convertible.  Dire conveyance but spectacular honeymoon.....

My wedding car was a mystery until the day - Father-in-law was a chauffeur, so I got what his contacts had free that day! Silver over Navy Silver shadow as it turns out. My blue E39 was in someone's wedding photos about 10 years ago, after another chauffeur double booked a job and needed a car pronto :)
