Kiltox Posted September 1, 2016 Author Posted September 1, 2016 We have CHOONZ Mono only because the right hand speaker didn't have bullets on its wires and I didn't buy any female ones SiC, Supernaut, dollywobbler and 2 others 5
Kiltox Posted September 2, 2016 Author Posted September 2, 2016 People often moan about small parking spaces but park an 80s car in them and they're fucking huge! I shouldn't worry about leaving a £4.99 car (there was a penny on the dash) in the pub car park overnight but I will! tooSavvy, oldcars, dollywobbler and 1 other 4
Kiltox Posted September 2, 2016 Author Posted September 2, 2016 Might need to replace the radio with a modern one which I'm not keen on because it's memory doesn't work despite being wired correctly
JohnDeere Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Might need to replace the radio with a modern one which I'm not keen on because it's memory doesn't work despite being wired correctlyI wonder if that's an Alpine thing? The lovely NOS Alpine I bought here from Aston Martin never seems to keep its memory despite being wired to a permanent 12v. Doesn't worry me too much, as pre-RDS means scanning up and down all the time anyway.
Kiltox Posted September 2, 2016 Author Posted September 2, 2016 It's a bit dodgy too - volume buttons and preset buttons don't always work Might look for a replacement on eBay because I love the "period" look
Kiltox Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Just ordered a shit load of Colt bits on Amazon2x timing belt kitsFront left and right suspension armsRear wheel cylindersFront brake discsFront brake padsRear brake shoesBrake master cylinderHT leadsRocker cover gasket£53 delivered! Don't need any of them just yet but it's a decent stockpile to have given some of this stuff is getting proper unobtainium tooSavvy, RobT, egg and 2 others 5
Kiltox Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Blower doesn't seem to work on speeds 1 or 2 in the Colt - anyone know where the resistor is located?
Kiltox Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Ordered even more stuff on Amazon - set of brake calipers, an air filter, another set of brake shoes and one (!) rear Spring! If anyone needs any Colt bits..... egg and oldcars 2
Kiltox Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 Might need to deal with the oil leak - so much CBA though
Kiltox Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 Online parts catalogues list two different fuel senders for the Colt - MB487703 and MB314114 - the former is unobtanium but I've found a ready supply of the other in the USA on eBay Any of the previous owners looked into this before and know what the difference is?
Kiltox Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Drove 340 miles in the van today without incident - quite chuffed with it actually because it's more comfortable than many cars I've done the same in! "Clutch judder" gets a lot worse after a long journey - starting to wonder if it's actually knackered engine mounts
Kiltox Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Also was shocked to find that the tyre pressures should be 52 psi front and 59 psi rear and the drivers side front and rear were at about 30!
Kiltox Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Modern shit - bought a non runner Citroen C3 1.4 hdi on a 2009/09 Reckon the BSI is toast causing the non start - everything from Lexia suggests that is the case. Ordered a BSI, ECU and key set to hopefully sort that out Bump started it today and it runs well!
Kiltox Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 Rover is about to be parked up for the winter - must buy a cover Colt is hopefully being swapped for a WBoD Van needs fettling for its test later this month. Hopefully just drop links and a horn Golf is doing its thing but I really must change that water pump Panda engine is going in this week!!
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Engine swap hasn't fixed this pile of shit - it's still fucked. Think the ECU is fucked as I originally thought before I started doing compression tests and finding water where it shouldn't be.
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Oh and the brand new sump has a flaw in its casting so it leaks like a fucking sieve.
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Pretty sure I need to just frag it and move on
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Yeah if you're lucky. Was going to use it as a loan car.
SiC Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Have you done a total reset on the ECU, using a diag tool? I seem to remember Fiat ECUs adapt themselves a lot.
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Yeah did that ages ago, it didn't fix anything
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Start engine Engine revs it's bollocks off for a few seconds (no rev counter but I'm guessing 5k revs) Revs die down and then pulse between a normal idle speed and 3k or so After a bit it dies down a bit more like it's going to idle properly and then stalls Hugely difficult to restart unless left for hours
SiC Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Tried disconnecting all the sensors, apart from the bare necessities? (Probably just needs crank sensor connected to run)
Kiltox Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 It keeps throwing up random fault codes too so I'm guessing that's another sign the ECU is borked
Kiltox Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Haven't tried disconnecting it but I have multiple throttle bodies (ICV is integral) and there's no difference between them
