Wisp of smoke on starting up a Volvo V40

I've just popped over my fathers place as he wanted to show off his new/old £350 Volvo V40 petrol turbo which he has just taxed and insured from today so we went for a spin in it for about an hour and it really does drive spot on.. in fact I couldn't even hear the engine running Its that quiet and the car doesn't have a single rattle..

The problem is I noticed on start up there's a puff of white smoke for a split second

.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's hot or cold as it does it all the time but clears instantly and doesn't smoke while the engine is running or driving and it pulls like a train so the engine and turbo seem to be working as they should so I was thinking maybe it's the valve stem oil seals but it does have a small leak off the oil return pipe on the turbo which I doubt will get fixed.

I'm not that mechanically minded as most people on good old autoshite so was wondering if that sounds about right as I doubt it would be piston rings as there's no smoke coming out back when it's running.

I told him not to worry and just keep an eye on the oil level as it was a bit on the low side when he bought it.

Could even be condensation in the exhaust

It's a 350 quid car, unless there is a James Bond style smoke screen it definitely goes on the "things to ignore" list.

Fuck me sideways, could we get any more bleedin envious motors like that can't be found for love or money when i need one, £350 for a decent motor that runs well does all you ask and the sum total of its faults is it gives a little puff of white smoke at start up, people who pay £35k for cars don't get better than that and get a mountain of electronic crap that will fail soon as.

And it was only a 2 minute walk away so there wasn't much of a collection thread involved...

to be honest and I'm quite envious and will be asking him to come along in future when I buy a motor.

it goes like a rocket and makes my sporty little BMW feel rather tame in comparison you would think the car was a 50000 miler looking at the interior as it still looks new inside so Volvo must use some quality leather.

I popped into halfords the other day for him and bought some of that £10 deal oil just if it does decide to use a drop now and again.

So I've now got another BMW sitting on my drive which will sit there for god knows how long.. I do hope the planning office let me go ahead and move my garage back and make my drive a bit bigger..

My neighbours think I'm a car dealer lol
