as its french reg..........

 

unlike germany theres no export plate with temp cover on it

 

id ask my insurer but they dont do cars

 

who still does the insure on the vin thing?

Google for "assurance temporaire" , plenty of services in france that do short term insurance online, also with road side assistance.

I'm not sure you actually can? Every time we've done it we get a cover note but last time they mentioned that it doesn't actually cover the vehicle if it is being driven in the country it is coming from. Useful*

Other insurers are available however and may have different policies.

What's your schedule to drive home, in france la assurance remains valid until midnight the day the car is sold (article L121-11 code des assurances). Some sellers may also be willing to mark the next day as day car was sold on the carte grise, giving you another day.
