More body styles than Readers Wives

Would I be missing the point if I suggest the plethora of independent body builders who adorned chassis' supplied by car manufacturers with their own bodies?

These range from Austin 7 to Rolls-Royce. The same "car" underneath but many many styles of body. See also buses and coaches.

But to be sensible, would the Rootes Arrow range be a contender?

I think I know the winner, even if it wasn't sold in the UK (afaik): Aro 24/33/35/42 series. All of them are based on Aro 24, but different applications called for different chassis lenght. Aro 24x had a chassis of 240 cm, Aro 26x - one of 260 cm and so on. There are 19 variants except the three military vehicles (the Dragon versions): http://www.dce.gov.ro/Info_business/cd_machine_building_industry/fepa_cm/aro/gama_aro_24_ro.htm

Those ARO's are FAB. The Dacia Duster was sold here - wasn't that an ARO with different badges?

(those in your post seem a little too "long" for the Duster)

It was made in the same factory as the bigger brother, but the engine was the one from Dacia hence the name "Dacia Duster". In Romania they were sold as Aro 10. Again, lots of different body styles. The topping was Aro 11, which was an Aro 10 body on an Aro 24 chassis.

EDIT: I searched for chassis information but returned empty handed, it might have been the same chassis for the 10 as for the 24 (just the short one). There is the range I think somewhere just before the state sold the company:
