Peugeot 309 Diesel Help

I've just been offered this hunny at a low low price, it has the 1905cc Diesel engine and according to the vendor the cambelt has never been changed, it's on 110k now but he asked his local garage and they said the cam belt is fine(!?!?) So, does anyone know how much trouble it would be to changeand is it an interference engine? I am strangely drawn to it!

I think all diesels are interference engines due to extremely high compression.I don't think it'll be very difficult to change. It's a 3hr job on a 405TD, probably much less for the n/a engine.Has it got a blue interior?

Does the vendor mean that he had never changed it or that it had never ever been changed. If its never ever then the engine is on borrowed time. These make a big mess if the belt breaks. Ive seen more than 1 with snapped camshafts. Will the local garage pay the bill if it breaks? Thought not. That said, I like these things.

 Get it changed - its not a huge job on the N/a, do the waterpump at the same time too and tensioners.

I don't think the car has skimped on servicing, seems like a well to do family but he has no knowledge of it being done. It is a very blue car and dents and wheel trims aside very clean! It's a major worry though. It only has MOT & tax until the end of the month though!
