Passat b5 bumper job

Anyone got any ideas on the sequence of events to remove a bumper on a B5 shape 2010 Passat? I know it's not shite but any clues to save me spending hours trying to find some elusive rivet that holds it on?

B5 changed into B5.5 which ended its run in 05 ish so not sure what model you have.

Oops B6 I mean. It's 2010. Not being a dubber I don't know. I nearly fell off my chair when looking at a used bumper, even ones with slight flaws are going for £80-100 on EBay!

Sorry can't help you then as never worked on that one, the b5 is a doddle though so I expect its not to bad.

Yeah, you'll probably have to take the headlights out or something.

At a guess from prior experience I'd say the plastic chrome shit grille off with some extremely brittle clips, then 20 chewed up torx screws in varying obscure locations.

Leave the bumper where it is and kablanggg it hard with some awesome stickerbombing, then trick it out with some epic random ass orange foglamp mounted crooked, a ships compass or whatever old shit and slap that bitch up some presence brah.

If your replacing the bumper, wait for the new one to arrive then you have a good look at the replacement for the mounting holes ect. to give you an idea. Or  if not i would remove all the grills etc from the bumper this will usually reveal the mountings, and also have a good look at where the bumper meets the plastic inner arches as there are usually hidden fastenings there. Get stuck in, it won't be as hard as you think. Or another option is - register with vagcat as this will show an exploded diagram of the bumper and its mounting points.

I've had every opinion from it's a piece of piss to 'it will want taking in to the main dealer' - which just made me want to slap them. I cannot stand that 'daily mail' mentality of 'they know best'.

It can't be too hard. Am I likely to disturb the airbag sensors? That's my only concern.

Once actually did that on a Sierra. The locating bolt holes had rusted through, ripped it clean off with my hands.
