Scraps collection thread

It's not even a car really - I'm going to collect the remains of a Mitsubishi Starion.

Engine, suspension, axle, doors, wheels, bonnet, boot and drivetrain. And the entire body to be cut up with an angle grinder (for use in other Starions). There are some good bits left, strangely, the inner wings and sills are intact.

I hired one of these:

Can anyone guess what mpg I'll get? I've had a tailgate Luton Transit which was OK, and a SWB Transit before that which was nice to drive, but this Renault/Vauxhall isn't as nice as the Transit. Tailgate Transit got 20mpg, cost £100 in fuel there and back. It's also unbelievably high up from the road, I feel like I am piloting one of these:

I have to drive and drop off my co pilot chum to London, and then head up to North Essex, will be setting off at 12! Wish me luck!

Wasn't that in the Ebay thread the other day?

The car? I'm not sure!

Left Liverpool at 1am (!)

Stopped at 4am at Corley Services as I completely lost all concentration. Wasn't falling asleep but I had forgotten what driving was, had two hours sleep, and then set off again. Mate slept on the front seats, I slept on the plywood in the back! Horrid!

Third time of driving down here, 1,500 miles, sorely regret it now, but selling some of the parts made back the money, but not the time or the monotonous distance, or having to sleep in service stations:

Owner's wife couldn't watch this, the fella had the car when they met in the early 90's.

Target time to return home, unload the van and clean it out was 5.45pm, was well on time, until this happened, because 'the M6'. Had to hand the keys over by 6pm or add on another day's hire amount.

2 hours later, passing the smouldering remains of a trailer, I have 1/2 an hour to travel 55 miles.

Back home! 7pm

In the corner is the rest of Starion, I need to shift it soon

Tank was heavier than the engine - it was full of fuel:

And that concludes the last time I travel anywhere for anything. :D

Flippin Nora batty, you're more energetic than me, that sounds horrendous!!! Are you in the black on it after hiring a flipping van and fuel and everything?

I was stuck in the tailback for that lorry fire. I ended up doing a 16hr day. Fucking trailer.

I knew it wouldn't take less than three journeys to get the stuff home, have made 400 quid from bits sold so far, devastated the windscreen cracked - easy 200 quid now worth fuck all. Will stick the rest on eBay this weekend.
