Citroen CX caliper integrated with hub-carrier.  attachicon.giforg_brake_overview.jpg

Unfortunately it is engineering details like these that are a dominating influence when I choose a car.......................

That is FUCKING ace.

Anyone, who like myself is a disciple of Boothroyd and Dewhurst's or Swift and Allen's Design for Assembly Techniques, will be thinking hard about the parts count efficiency of that. Does the caliper move in relationship to the hub ? No? Does it have to be a different material ? No Does it have to be separate for servicing ? No. It's a B part (assuming the hub is an A) Therefore combine !!!

Talking rotary engines, not Wankel, is 'rotary' the proper word for these? In german we call these Sternmotor (star engine).

Adams Farewell used a five cylinder mounted flat in the rear of the car already in 1906.

Amazingly it has a double clutch, now talk about todays car industry being innovative with DSG....

Has anyone mentioned Mini/1100 gearboxes in the sump?

Does it count as strange? 8)

Fairly common layout with Peugeot and many motorbikes, even the V12 in the Lambo Miura used it.
