Sorry, you can't listen to the radio

I used to love Atlantic 252, when I was a teenager in the mid to late 90’s that’s all everyone listened to, Radio 1 was awful (still is).  For those that don’t know the station it played modern music (80’s/90’s) and had a more music less talk format.  A lot of the DJ’s had fake pun names like Dickie Bow, Hollywood Haze, Rick O’Shea, Beverley Hills and Cliff Walker.  They also gave away a lot of big cash prizes and even cars.  Anyone know ‘the phrase that pays’?

Atlantic 252 was only 'not bad' if you had some incurable mental disorder where the voices in your head told you to listen to 'Bird House In Your Soul' by They Might Be Giants several thousand times a day. Ideally via the medium of some Harry Moss car speakers during a thunder and lightning storm, in a corrugated iron shed in the Outer bastard Hebrides.

:-D

Im going to try that, I have TMBG 1990 album, Flood somewhere....

And for those that missed 1990...

My car has an 'economy mode'. You turn the key all the way anti-clockwise, and everything switches off. Why is that no longer enough?

Eveyry day is a school day. I've just learned that some modern cars let you use the radio with the ignition off. Must be one of those odd features that those weird post-chrome-bumper cars have.

Edit:  I can turn the key to the "accessory" position - does that count?

If you have Lexia software you can apparently disable the economy mode on pug/citroens.

Whats worse about the economy mode is that it wont let you use the electric windows, you have to re-start the engine to get the windows up. Great - except when your car has crapped out due to a gearbox fault that prevents the engine starting. Ask me how I know that.

You can see the bag taped over the window to keep the cats out repair in the background while I awaited delivery of my Chinese knock-off Lexia system.

The C5 has two 12V sockets, one permanent and one ignition controlled. I connected my aftermarket stereo to those so I didn't have to worry about upsetting the BSI.
