I'd say thats a very reasonable price. Anything in that condition is well worth that sort of money I would have thought. And ultimately if you want to get rid of it in the future you will always get your money back on it!

I'm with them, given it's overall condition I'd say you've bagged a bargain... :D

Thats a lovely looking car, and very rare in that condition now. As SL says, you'd never get one as good as that by buying a £300 one and 'doing it up'. Watch out for rot in the rear wheelarches/rear door shut area - I remember these always seemed to develop holes there, for no apparent reason. My aunt had a 1.3 L. she loved it, for some reason she replaced it with a late high spec Horizon, a decison she regretted fairly soon afterward!

Maybe on a usability level(?) but personally I find Horizons a lot more interesting being that they are A) French, B) obscure & unloved C) a replacement for the Simca 1100 as well as being big brother to the Sunbeam which I also dig.I'm sure this Escort is lovely though, I will find out when I can see the pics.

The Horizon is more of a step brother to the Sunbeam. Not a blood relation and almost nothing in common, but made to live in the same family and wear the same clothes.

I just did something I've not done in a looooong time......I just went out for a drive for the hell of it!!Funny what a new toy can do for you. This Escort goes really well too, 75mph before you know it (Ford book says 0-60 in 9.7 secs) and it has a really nice exhaust note.Inside is very plush and quiet..I guess the Ghia had plenty of sound deadening. So far, so good. :)

Maybe your example is fortunate enough to have a twin choke weber instead of the infernal vv carb.Still got the original stereo?

Nope, unfortunately it is the VV carb......something I'd like to change if a cheap enough one came up with an inlet manifold.Still has the original stereo with little joystick thingy. :)
