air filter search

My tractor / mower needs a new air filter. Its basically just a cylindrical paper cartridge filter. The proper one? Sixty quid. Fuck right off.

So I am looking for anything that will fit, but its not an easy google search. I have found a few sites that let you search by dimension, but they always come up with examples for some really obscure type of digger only sold in Malaysia or something equally useless....so, I just need to find a cylindrical air filter that I can buy on ebay or in Le Halfords here that is between 180 and 240mm long, outside diameter between 80 and 90mm and inside diameter 50 to 60mm

Any clues?

put the mann number into ebay it shows you the cheaper mahle one ( i do what you do for cylinder filters for bikes - car ones 1/3 the prices)

18 quid tho - cos of the height i think - maybe buy two 90mm high ones

the list i was getting was all komatsu and cat and vovlo diggers and that ligier

Swap it out for a K&N panel filter m8. Just think how much extra power that will release. Also, million mile warranty, on a mower with no odometer...

On a serious note, could something be adapted from a car or motorbike with a similar diameter barrel? Or cobble together something even more naff from a bit of pipe of suitable diameter, a silicone hose elbow and one of those mushroom filters which are sometimes used for crankcase breathers - from ebay? Then replacement of the mushroom would be a matter of <£3 a time. You might even get away with just a mushroom filter if there is a tiny bit of space around it.

Something like this:

Awesome, this gives me stuff to look into, thanks guys.

I considered fitting some kind of K&N cone type of deal, but there isnt a lot of room under the "bonnet" and it gets mega-dusty so have doubts about an oil-soaked type of filter being much use. The pipe into the inlet manifold is maybe 45mm, so a fair bit smaller than most universal filters, but the engine is a 3cyl diesel so I think the breather style filters would be too small and strangle it.

That one for the Ligier looks promising as I think it will go into the standard filter housing which has a basic dust separator before the main filter element.

Destroy the paper then go to a local dirt bike shop and ask for a sheet of filter foam . Make it fit in/around the old metal frame . Glue with hot glue if reqd . Once made oil up with gear or engine oil
