Your average common rail diesel has been banger money for a while, the oldest ones are 16-17 years old.

I ran my 156 JTD 16v on bio.  It made no difference to the running whatsoever and I think SVO would be fine too in the summer.  The only thing that suffered slightly was a thin, grey coating on the injector return line that turned to gooey mush when the bio got near it.  The pipe itself was fine though.

 

The car was £400.  If the bio killed it, I would easily get the money back in bits so made like a carefree yoof and YOLO'd the shit out of it.
