my oppo had one of these back in the late '90s, he bought it with the post-Bosnia op tour bonus (The rest of the Battalion bought Mk4 Escorts and Gallants. predictably, I spent mine on a Trans Am), it was mostly brown with red bits and a white passenger door. We christened it the El Al courtesy bus.

It cabbied us around a fair chunk of Eastern Europe on the piss but was very heavy on brake pads. Ian (the owner) used to carry a set and we could change them in 15 minutes at the side of the autobahn.

Added bonus, the performance wasn't effected at all when towing my broken-down Trans Am, which it did. Often.

I think I remember another of your articles in a mag (which also featured a gathering of LTs) about cooking...something about not being allowed in a pub for reasons of H&S!

LOL - The White Rabbit - the landlady of whom was a complete & utter twunt!

I write memorable, if slightly offbeat motoring articles.

Incidentally, the gathering of LT's featured one with the drivetrain from a Lexus 400 - now that might be smoother than smooth.

There's a Facebook group if it's your sort of thing VW LT Owners (VOLT)

I'm really pleased that one of these vans has been bought by a decent engineer -

sorry, I just spat beer all over the computer!

The windscreen wipers had been sticking mid-way through their sweep, this was traced to the (aftermarket) glow plugs solenoid being mounted in such a way that it fouled the tie bar that connects the wiper spindles together. Remedied by moving the solenoid bracket via 'gentle bending'... wipers now work properly.

fascinating, what yer find while browsing :D

this aint got owt to do with the conversation had the other day, where the heater plug sillynoid had stopped working has it?

Well done on the pass, team!

Is the camper coming up to Malham soon for its annual pilgrimage and usual shenanigans?
