I think it depends where you stay and how much salt is battered on the roads. I bought my Santa Fe from Halifax, no rust at all, but some later ones i see around here have rusting rear wipers, and around the wiper arm and back arches. Mines ok.

I see quite a few late 80s Mercs out & about, 190s mostly but some larger ones and a couple of SLs.

As a driver of a mid-90s VW - tons of mid-90s VW Polos and Golfs.

More so than early 00s versions.

I think I see more K-R plate golfs and M-T Polos than any of the 00s VWs. All the early 00 plate VWs I see look absolutely shagged too.

Fewer electric gizmos and dual mass flywheels to go wrong?
