hennabm Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Hi all A plea to the AS community. I have purchased a one owner 240 est from near Hull and I need to get it to Lincoln. It has been lying in the garage since 2007 so any thought of driving it with a cambelt is worrying me. Also with no tax or MOT it is tricky. Anyone know of someone that maybe able to help me please. Remuneration of some sort will be provided. of course.-
skattrd Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Scruff had given up tat shifting last I'd heard, but may be worth a shout, just in case. hennabm 1
spike60 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Interference engine? My 1979 one wasn't when it snapped the belt 27 miles after I bought it! Mine had been stood as well and the oil feed through the head blocks so it seizes on the cam.
Pillock Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 If it's noninterference, pack an RAC card and stick to the nearside lane. Book an MOT close to home and you've just saved a Shipley fee. hennabm 1
cms206 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 If it's a 2.0 it's interference, 2.3 is non-interference. hennabm 1
hennabm Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 It's a B230 engine and according to what I've read on tinternet it is an interference engine. Hence my initial caution.

Hence my initial caution. The B230 is non-interference, the B200 is interference. Looks a late 240 which were generally B200, 230s were pretty uncommon that late in the game. hennabm 1
hennabm Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 It's a 1989 and a sticker on the cam belt cover states it's a B23 at least. Maybe the 0 isn't an 0 but a o.......It has that rare thing today, called a carburettor.
