What the heck do i do next, nova, dvla shenanigans with import

brought this car in from Germany and sent away for an import pack but when it came there was no nova crap in it,

back to the website and found link for nova so applied for that and this morning the paperwork arrived and says you have to do it online after some customs shit,  

 

so my question is what is the easiest way to do this the correct way before the wrath of the doovla rain down. there doesn't appear to be a phone number to ask for help.

I can't remember who I called but there should be a number in the import pack to call ... I spoke to someone before Xmas and found them quite helpful.

 

But in short yes, fill in NOVA online, I think that's it if the car is from the EU ... but I'd wait for Mr_Bickle/Panhard/someone else to confirm.

Then it's MOT & apply for tax disc using the form in the import pack, v55/5?

 

My Daihatsu still isn't UK reg, but that's due to me being slow and trying to avoid paying too much to customs/VAT.

been round in circles on line, even got an ID and password but it goes nowhere,  car is ready for mot aswell just not sure if its worth doing it early.

Sorry if I'm going over what you've already done, register, password, login to government gateway -> Services you can use -> Notice of vehicle arrival.

Is that not there for you?

I am not sure how the man on the street does the NOVA but I have no trouble as I am VAT registered and just do it on a government gateway site. I think Nigel has done a couple it is a right pain for private buyers to get it done and they never mention how to do it when you come through the docks. Did the DVLA give you more information in the import pack of who to write to for the NOVA form. Good luck

When I click the link it asks a couple of short questions, private/business etc., which then leads on to what I assume is the NOVA questionnaire.

it stated can take upto 24 hours for registration maybe that's the cause,

If it's not in "services you can use" is it is in "services you can add"?

I don't remember adding it to my stuff, but maybe check ...

My nova went ok until I tried to register the vehicle and then dvla said it had no been through nova.

 

Dvla were shit useless........the nova people were helpful. All nova seems to do is confirm vat has been paid where applicable.

 

As you already know nova is administered by hmrc and the team that deal with it are the NCH......aka national clearance hub at Salford.......phone number I used was 03000579069.
